"Mousy"

Yesterday I went to the hairdresser. I tried out a new place because I have yet to find the person that can compare with my hairdresser at Klassy Kuts in Virginia (I have been going there since I was in the 6th grade). I hold these hairdressers to a HIGH standard and I have blonde hair (it's natural with just a little maintenance...lol) and when i leave I don't want it to look brassy, yellow, or platinum!! Here is a re-cap of my conversation with the hairdresser.

Hairdresser: "So what are we going to do with your color today?"

Me: "Well, I'm really not sure, I've been toying with the idea of letting all my highlights grow out and get back to my natural color, but I can't ever decide."

Hairdresser: "Well what would you think of lowlights and highlights?"

Me: "Ehhh...not for summer, but I've thought about it."

Hairdresser: "Well what did you have done at the last place?"

Me: (condensed version): "Well she gave me highlights, they weren't blonde enough and so I went back and got a base break to lighten them up."

Hairdresser: "Hmmm, I'm really not sure why she did a base break.  A base break is for people who get blonde highlights but have REALLY dark hair naturally. Your hair is dirty blonde naturally...very mousy."

Me (thinking to myself): Oh my gosh, did she just tell me my hair is the color of a rodent!!!???

Yes, she did! Apparently "mousy blonde" or "mousy brown" is a hair color. So, see this cute little guy above, that is the color of my hair. awesome. I don't know what is worse..having your color described as "mousy" or as a dirty blonde a.k.a. "dishwater". If that is the color of my hair, I will NEVER EVER let my highlights grow out. If her mission was to get my money forever and ever..then job.well.done.

This is the official definition of mousy:

mousey (variant of mousy) - of something having a drab pale brown color resembling a mouse; "a mousy brownish-grey color"; "mousy hair"; "mouse-colored hair"

These are the words that freak me out in that definition

1. drab

2. pale

3. grey

4. mouse-colored

Oh, and I emailed my mom about this incident and she says this: "They told me I had mousey-brown hair, too!!!"

great. it's genetics. thanks mom.

good thing I went with those blonde highlights again. *whew*

Book Club

I don't have a book club, but I do LOVE to read, and every chance I get, I share my favorite book with as many girls I can.

Something Borrowed is my favorite book to date. Yes, I'll even put it ahead of all Nicholas Sparks' books, and the Twilight series. This book has the perfect amount of drama, romance, and suspense. The sequel to this is Something Blue and it is just as entertaining! PLEASE READ IF YOU HAVEN'T!!

Now, to make things even better, I learned that my favorite book is going to be made into a movie. It is set to release in 2011 and the cast is STACKED! Kate Hudson (my fav.), Colin Farrell, Ginnifer Goodwin, and John Krasinski are set as characters thus far.

Read this book and then go to http://www.imdb.com/ and see which actor/actress is playing which character. I think they line up PERFECTLY.

P90X Day 1: I hate push-ups

No really, I TRULY hate them. So when I have to do a million of them and do fancy ones I get pretty cranky. Core Synergistics involves a lot of push-ups, and they barely have any options for us knee users!! I will get better though. Overall, Day 1 was not death  like I originally planned for. I still have a lot of work to do. They are ripped...I am weak.

Fabulous Weekend

This weekend was pretty much amazing! It was my first free weekend after tax season and Matt and I made the most of it. He wanted to do EVERYTHING and he tired me out.

On Friday we went to Waterfront Park to watch the sunset, we didn't realize the pier closes about an hour BEFORE the sun sets. Oops!!

I truly believe that Charleston has the most beautiful sunsets!

Saturday the weather was GORGEOUS and we wanted to spend as much time outside as possible. We had been talking about all of the fun activities that James Island County Park has to offer, so we went over there to spend some time.

We decided to ride bikes. I haven't rode a bike in SUCH a long time, but we loved it and now bikes are on our list of things to buy!! The trails through the park were so pretty, and it was so relaxing.

Sunday we planned to head down to the water to see the Blue Angels show. AMAZING!! It was one of the coolest things Matt and I have been able to see/do in Charleston.  First, we went to breakfast at a place we've been hearing about alot lately.

Joseph's is on Meeting Street. It's not a huge restaurant, so if you weren't looking you'd probably pass it by. I wanted to go here because I heard they had beignets! I tried to get some when we went to Savannah, but it didn't happen.  I was determined to get them today and I wasn't disappointed!

OH MY GOSH! Deep-fried, confection-sugared h:e:a:v:e:n!!!

Matt and I both got omelettes, but if you are in the mood for pancakes or french toast you should come here. The pancakes are bigger than a 12" plate...no joke! And they don't just give you one, you get two! The french toast is four slices of bread...four slices of 10-12" long bread. It took everything in my power not to order those!! I'm going back when my parents come to visit, and I'm DEFINITELY getting that french toast!!

Later we went to the Blue Angels show. If you've never heard of this, you should look it up and try to make a show...I like to think of it as something like Top Gun..except I didn't see Tom Cruise!

Happy April 16th! The end of tax season means time for things I love:

...the beach
...Matthew
...friends
...the beginning of summer

This is my first free weekend in MONTHS, and I'm going to take full advantage of it. So many plans with the man I love.

Forty Eight!

I have waited for THIS particular anniversary for a while now. I've been marking off the days on my calendar at work! Our golden anniversary!! 4 years on 4/4.

Thank you for being the most amazing man I have ever met. You are truly the most intelligent, thoughtful, caring, loving, honest, pure, and hard-working man ever. I love the man you have become and will continue to become. Thank you for making me the woman I am today.

I look forward to all of our years together. You are my rock, my best friend, and the match to my soul.

Well the countdown is on....tax season is 2 weeks from being over. The next two weeks are going to be crucial for me. At this point I am working 14 hr days and am constantly stressed. I am on edge and one little thing could send me over the edge...

This week these are the things that annoy me:

...automatic flushers on toilets. They are WAY too sensitive and barely give me any time to get situated before they are flushing! Seriously I almost miss the days when all you had was handles and I could throw my foot up and flush that way!!!

...pollen on my car.  I am getting a car this summer and black was one of the 3 possible color options...yeah, not anymore. I would pay someone $5 to wash it right now.

...entitled soccer moms of Ashley Hall girls....just because I drive a Honda doesn't mean you own the road with your Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Volvo, etc. And even though my windows are up....I'm letting you know how I feel on the other side.

...countdowns
     ....14 days until tax season is over
     .....15 days until I get my massage
     ......50 days until Matt graduates
    .......66 days until Daughtry.

Yeah, you get the point. It is just annoying and no one really cares!

...that Bedrock song. "call me Mr. Flintstone b/c I can make your bedrock" Wasn't that a pick-up line like 10 years ago? and NOW it is a hit song on the radio?! original.

...Jake, The Bachelor, on Dancing With the Stars...NO WONDER he was single till he was 30!! He needs to get some calluses on his hands and  just man up!

Well that pretty much sums it up for this week. Who knows...these things may seem perfectly fine next week.
